Parisian High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels is the subject of a major exhibition at the Galerie du Patrimoine in the boutique at 20 place Vendome in Paris.
Titled 'An Ode to Nature', the exhibition offers a glimpse into the dream worlds of the Maison, illustrating the significance of flora and fauna in it's work. On display in the venue are 53 creations dating from the 1920s to the 2000s, alongside seven original archival documents expressing the poetry and diversity of the plant and animal universes.
Highlights of the items are:
- An openwork brooch illustrating the Maison's attachment to the bird motif
- Precious objects and everyday accessories such as a 1945 cigarette case featuring an engraved seascape of the hull of a sailboat about to dock on an island of diamonds and emeralds.
- A 1950s yellow gold Flower bracelet, a 1957 powder case, and the Carpenteria clip inspired by marine fauna and flora.
- Creations from the 2009 California Reverie High Jewelry Collection exploring the flora of an American West.
- The 1971 Barquerolles necklace, which belonged to American actress Elizabeth Taylor, featuring a central element that detaches to form a clip whose rings, also removable, and can convert into a pendant.
